Looking for a little wedding 50 or so people on a lakeside in maine.

It really ranges. A friend did hers in a resort in WV, which should have been like $55 per head, but she had a friend do DJing (which was supposed to be included), and cut out the open bar, which knocked the cost down quite a bit.

So, many resorts will have the complete package available, but don’t be afraid to negotiate!

I want a square cake with a few layers (enough for that many people- I think 3) and I want it frosted preferably in butter cream with probably a butter cream filling. Nothing too exquisite but tastes good and looks nice.
I just want to know what an average cost would be. I live in central NJ.
Thank You

seriously, i might get thumbs down for this, but you should really check out walmart’s cakes. we had to have 2 different wedding parties for families far apart and went with them due to price….but the cake was SO delicious. I have never been so impressed with Walmart’s cakes (in 2 different locations). The 3 teired cakes were only $130 and they looked amazing. i strongly encourage you to check them out if you are not picky about themes and stuff.

I am trying to plan a budget for my wedding and was wondering how much it would cost for the reception. I live in South Carolina and we thought about having barbeque but decided it would be too expensive. Instead we are only going to have finger foods and cake but no alcohol so that should cut cost. I was wondering what an estimate would be for about 240 people. We are going to have it at a different location so not everyone will show up and the catering and rental fees are free. I just need to know an estimate on the cost of food and some ideas on what to serve, including other kinds of beverages then alcohol or punch. Thanks for the help!
It will be near Orangeburg, SC.

I live in SC and I did the whole finger foods idea for my reception bc it was an afternoon wedding. I had about 125 people and I spent $250 on the food, so you could double that estimate. Sam’s Club will be your new best friend, find someone with a membership or invest in one yourself. As far as ideas for food, we had saucy meatballs, Danish wedding cookies, ham and cheese mini croissants, cookies, fruit, and sausage balls. As far as beverages, of course we had the sherbet punch, but it’s the South, everyone loves sweet tea. You might offer unsweetened or diet soda for anyone that is diabetic. Good luck!

My fiancee and I are starting to plan our wedding and were looking for different prices of how much the total wedding costs! HELP! Feel free to categorize it. Thanks so much!!!

It really depends on a number of factors:

* where you live (metro areas usually cost more than suburban and rural areas, and big cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc. cost a LOT more than smaller cities)

* how many people you’re inviting (more people = more meals, more seating, a bigger hall or ceremony site, more invites/postage, etc.)

* how formal you want to be (filet mignon on fancy china will cost more than fried chicken at a casual picnic)

Costofwedding.com (or maybe costofweddings.com, I forget) will give you a ballpark price, and a breakdown, if you give your Zip code. Theknot.com also has a budget calculator and some helpful message boards. Offbeatbride.com is a great resource for inspiration if you want something more "you" and less traditional.

Remember that all you NEED is a license, a certified officiant, and however many witnesses your state requires. If you’re having guests, all you NEED to do is seat, feed and entertain them. And you may want to hire a great photographer, just for quality lasting memories as a nice keepsake for youself. You can knock out anything you may not want (favors, formal invites, a garter, a huge cake, a white gown, etc.) – don’t feel pressured to do things you may not like just because they’re "traditional." The media fools brides into thinking things are "traditional" or "necessary" because they want you to spend money.

Don’t be afraid to get creative! Maybe you’d like a nice ceremony in a public park with people seated all around you, followed by a nice dinner at a local restaurant. Maybe you can get a friend ordained to marry you, then go out for pizza and bowling afterward. The sky is the limit.

A beautiful evening at the stately Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown, CT was the venue for this incredible display. Video was produced by Douglas R. Williams. Fireworks by http://pyroart.tripod.com.
This ten minute presentation (to music, audible in the background) is typical of the style of exciting displays produced by this company. A large variety of effects are employed. The bride and groom were extremely happy about it and recieved many positive compliments. We produce low cost, spectacular displays for weddings and parties.

like if it was really expensive, what made it that way?

Im just trying to get a ballpark of things for future reference and know how much we need to save.

Thanks!

We are spending about $20,000.
$11000 of that is food and drink. $100pp is the average price where we are so this is about normal. We could have done it a bit cheaper ($9000) at a place that did not allow tastings, or much more expensive at alot of other places. That is for pre dinner drinks and finger food, entree, main (choice), dessert, coffee and chocolates.
Another thing that is expensive is the dress, if you let it be. Unfortunately I fell in love with a 2009 dress, so I can’t find it secondhand or discounted anywhere! My suggestion would be don’t tempt yourself with the brand new dresses, go for one from last season and get it secondhand at a bargain price.
And don;t get sucked into having things just because the wedding industry says you need them.

I’ve read/heard that weddings can cost between $20,000-$30,000. I think this is insane. I mean…that is a down payment on a house. I would like to know what the cost of a normal not high not low wedding costs. If you have been married or know someone who has and you have this information please share it. I would like to know the cost of everything minus the honeymoon and rings. Please help…I get married in July and need to get a budget worked up. Also, please don’t just tell me that it is based on how much I can afford. I am not looking for that. I am looking for acutal costs. Thanks for all the help!! 🙂

My wedding cost about $3000. I used silk flowers and did most of the decorating myself…rented an arch, borrowed the wedding dress (was beautiful!)…cut costs on things like wedding cakes…used someone who baked them out of her home who came highly recommended…Had it at a local church that had a big reception hall. We had about 200 people attend. Had my 4 tiered cake, the groom’s cake was a full sheet, double layered cake…had 2 platters of fruit and 2 large cans of mixed nuts (in nice dishes of course :p) and some wedding mints. Made some homemade punch. Everything was just enough!

It really depends upon the area you live in. My area is insanely expensive so for a small wedding we’re ending up paying $8-10,000. In some other areas, you could have the same small wedding for half of that.

Go to http://www.costofwedding.com/

Enter your zipcode and it’ll tell you the average cost for your area.

This is mine: "On average, couples that live in 0**** (——-, MA ) spend between $33,198 and $55,330 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring." Yikes!

I’m wondering what the average cost should be for a wedding DJ on a Saturday evening for around 6 hours in the suburbs of Chicago or Milwaukee. I know a band costs significantly more, but what’s a good price range for a DJ?

in nj, and good one with a dj an emcee and a dancer is about 2500 but you could get it as cheap as maybe 1500
