Your wedding is very important.

Planning. Time. Money.

SO NOTHING SHOULD GO WRONG.

Here are some points we think are important…

FILM VS. DIGITAL
We believe you should always shoot on film, as the end results are always of a much higher quality. However, we also understand that digital photography is important, so we give you high quality negatives, prints and CDs.

Within two weeks after your wedding, we will give you the negatives, proofs and CDs. There is no 1 year waiting period and no extra charge for the negatives!

WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO KEEP YOUR NEGATIVES?
You can make all of the prints you want, for whomever you want, like friends, parents, grandparents, etc. And you will know the price you are paying for prints is not overinflated!

One of us may relocate! If you have your negatives, you will always be able to make prints, no matter where you are.

It is your wedding and they are your negatives! You are paying for them. There should be no extra charge. Make sure you keep them.

You should keep the prints, negatives and CDs. Always. No exceptions. No extra cost!

We shoot your wedding, not our assistants. Make sure the person you hire will be the person who actually turns up to shoot your whole wedding, start to finish. And as always, there is no hourly charge.

Make sure you like the photographer, not just their work. You’ll spend 8 to 10 hours with that person. A brilliant photographer doesn’t mean a nice person.

Make sure you know all costs up front.

Ask for references or brides the photographer has worked with.

Make sure your photographer and videographer will be available to you after the wedding, as well as before.

Ask us any question at all. No matter how small. Questions are important. You haven’t done this before, so no question can be too small or stupid. Don’t hesitate to call or email us with questions!

DON’T…
Don’t pay more for black and white, color, sepia tone, sloppy border or any effects. There is no cost difference.

Don’t get bullied into a package! We don’t do packages and have never understood how 2 or 3 packages could suit hundreds of different couples. Every wedding is different and unique and should be treated that way.

Don’t hire someone by the hour. Why would they want to get your wedding done in the alloted time, when they can make more money by going slowly? Do you want to rush to get all of your photos taken because you only have a 5-hour package?

Don’t pay extra for travel, within reason.

Don’t be afraid to ask what type of equipment the photographer and videographer will use for your wedding. The best photographers use a variety of equipment.

Don’t get pushed into buying an album. There are many choices out there and we prefer to have our album suppliers assist you in your decision. We can accommodate anything from magazine style to traditional.

Serving the entire San Francisco Bay Area for Wedding Photography and Videography. You get the best of both worlds utilizing both film and digital. Everything from your wedding day and engagement poses to the best man’s toast…

how much does a wedding planner generally cost? I didnt want to have one because of the exta expense but now that Im getting into the planning of my wedding a little more its stressful!

It’s typically a percentage of your wedding budget. Call around and ask for quotes, they’ll be more than happy to tell you their fees. I thought that I wanted one too when I got into planning my wedding, but now I can tell you I’m so happy I did it myself. My husband (then fiance) did so much of the footwork too. It definitely can be done by two people, never mind family and friends who are willing to help. We got a few wedding planning books and the internet was our best resource. I’m not saying a wedding planner is a cop out, just saying that the journey can be really fun. Congratulations!

How much does a wedding photographer cost?

Most times "you get what you pay for" With wedding photography, just like anything else.

I charge $1000 to $6000 . $3000 sounds like a reasonable budget for most brides and if the photographer is (a) reliable (b) someone nice who you want to spend your whole wedding day with (c) has top-of-the-line equipment (d) takes beautiful photographs (e) offers not just quantity but also quality albums and prints.

I’m a wedding photographer in Pittsburgh PA and my $3000 wedding photography package includes 6 to 8 hours of coverae by two photographers. It also includes an Engagement Session, a beautiful leather-bound album, High Resolution CD and other little "extras".

Do shop around and make sure you are selecting the best photographer. Believe it or not, what matters MOST is that the photographer be NICE. Someone you, your wedding party, your family, and guests will all get along with, even in the most stressful moments that occur during a wedding day. Before you sign an agreement make sure you meet the actual photographer who will show up on your wedding day. Beware – some studios show the most beautiful sample albums from their Master Photographer, but they send a less qualified and experienced photographer to your wedding.

Next most important is the artistic and technical quality of his her wedding photography. Are they beautiful and emotional images, or ordinary. Don’t get caught up in the "numbers game". An 8 inch album with 50 really beautiful wedding photographs is better than a 10 inch album with 100 bad ones, don’t you agree?

Me and my boyfriend just got engaged and I am trying to plan the wedding but I need it to be low cost and still be really nice any suggestions we are going to get married in 2009 prob around May. Thank you for your suggestions.

Since it is in May, you could have the ceremony outdoors at a local park (most times you need to get permission, but it is usually free.) Then you dont have a site fee, just the fee of an officiant. You could have the reception at a fire hall or a VFW. These places are usually very cheap, and with the right decorations can be just as nice as any other place. Also for flowers, you could go to a grocery store the morning of and get their premade bouquets. These usually range from $6-10 per bouquet, and then hand tie them with some nice ribbons and you have a beautiful spring hand-tied bouquet! If you still want a florist to do yours, you could do this for just your bridesmaids. For a photographer, you can call around and see if any offer a "digital only" package, where instead of prints or albums you get just a CD of your prints, which you could then print yourself and do your own albums. This usually ranges from $500-700 depending on your area. For your dress, if there is a David’s Bridal in your area, shop the $99 sale. Wear white sandals instead of purchasing fancy shoes…you will be much more comfortable and no one really sees your shoes anyway. Narrow the guest list to only close relatives and friends (food/alcohol is usually the biggest cost, so narrowing down the guest list usually makes a huge difference!)

About how much would it cost to have a calligrapher address 100 wedding invitations (front only, no return)? I’m just looking for a ballpark figure.
I should have specified – someone asked my mom to do theirs, and she wants to know what is reasonable to charge. She did mine for free 🙂

$5 an invitation? Geez, that’s outrageous! It’s much cheaper to find someone locally who does calligraphy than to go with one of the internet companies that obviously scams people. ($5 an invite just amazes me. I wouldn’t want to pay that either!)

I’m paying $225 for 150 invitations (outside AND inside envelopes). It works out to be $1.50 per invitation.

My fiancé and I are planning to get married in June 2010 in Oxford. We have recently graduated from university and don’t have much money. We are planning to have a very small wedding with about 25 guests and don’t mind having a religious ceremony. I have already bought my dress second hand for only £100. We would like to spend as little as possible. Can you please give us some ideas for a cost effective wedding in Oxford.

Make your own invites, boquet and decorations.
Buy a second hand veil and tiara.
Get bridesmaid dresses in the January sales from places like Monsoon or Coast (I saved loads doing this).
Get shoes in the January sales.
Negotiate the best deals on food whether going to a restaurant or having caterers.
Make your own cupcake wedding cake.
Don’t forget to give notice (and include the priest/registrar costs in your budget which is around £440 for me!)

Just do as much as you can yourself and drag family and friends into helping! Don’t get carried away with the spend £20,000 on one day crowd whose weddings all look exactly the same anyway!! (and I graduated a 2 years ago so my student loan is more important to pay off then wedding debts!).

Good luck! I’m getting married July 2010 and also trying to have a sensible budget!
