how much should I expect to pay for a wedding photographer in Portland, Oregon? (we just changed our date to September instead of November, so we don’t have much time to get someone lined up)
That really all depends. I ahve 2 brothers who are both married. one spend 1200 and the other spent 700. the one who spnt 1200 the photographer forgot to take the grooms side of the family and the one who spent 700 even got included was a dvd of all engagement and wedding pix. Just spend 2 days callin and getting prices and what all that it includes and i bet u will find a great one

2010 Feb 16 3Wedding photographers are very expensive. When we were looking for one for my daughter’s wedding, we were shocked at some of the prices. Thousands of dollars. A friend I know takes pictures for the local newspaper. I ran into her and asked her if she photographed weddings. She never had, but said she’s been wanting to get into it for a long time. We booked her for my daughter’s wedding. She was with us at the house, church, and to the end of the reception. We really expected to get a CD with the photos on it for the price she quoted us, but when she came over when all the pictures were done, she had a wedding album with 300 pictures in it, not proofs, but pictures plus the CD. She charged us $300.00. I really wanted to give her more, but she said she was happy that we were willing to trust her with her first opportunity to photograph a wedding. The pictures were absolutely beautiful!!! Ask around for someone like this, you might be surprised how much you can save!! Best wishes and good luck!!

2010 Feb 16 4We spent only 600 on ours (Tampa Bay area in Florida) about 2 years ago. Many others wanted 1500 or so but for us price wasn’t the biggest issue… I wanted a photographer with an artistic eye that I loved. Make sure you shop around A LOT!

2010 Feb 16 7I’m in NC and am expecting to pay anywhere from$1500 – $4000. It depends on what you want. Expect to pay more for extra sessions (bridal and engagment sessions), albums, retouches, enlargments, etc.
The way I look at it, this will be one of my most important purchases since when all the flowers are dead and all the guests have left, I will still have my pictures.
I definitely recommend to book a professional.

2010 Feb 16 8I don’t live in that area but I’m assuming that most professional photographers are going to cost at least $1000 and up. When people ask for opinions on their wedding I always try to give them ideas that are good yet affordable. I’d say if you are looking to save some cash, go for someone like a student or amateur photographer who will charge at least half the price and do just as good of the job. Ask to see some pictures before you book. If you’re not very picky, that’s the way to go.
